- Reptiles and Amphibians
- Birds

- Mammals
- Animal Behaviour
- Conservation Management
- Historical Human Habitation

Past course highlights inlcude Butterflying with Specialist Butterfly Guide Amon Ndlovu, Birding around the Mkuze Fig Forest and visiting the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Centenary Centre. (Activities differ from one course to another depending on local events and availability of guest speakers/lecturers)

Who can apply?

The FGASA Level 1 short course is intended for people wishing to enter the guiding industry and is more suited to individuals with some form of relevant background or experience, as well as more mature students. (If you are considering guiding as a full time career, we recommend that you complete the more comprehensive Professional Field Guide Course.)

The course is open to all students that need to obtain a FGASA qualification for the purpose of registering and working as a nature guide. We do however also accept students that want to complete the course for their own personal development or as a Gap Year programme.
