Volunteers from the UK, together with French and German volunteers, will work together on a World War II site to carry out renovation and maintenance work in order to highlight its historical importance.

Location : The “Fort de la Crèche” is situated in Wimereux, in Pas-de-Calais region, on the English Chanel coast.

Work : The “Fort de la Crèche” is an old military base in front of the sea between Boulogne and Wimereux. The French governmental organization, “Le Conservatoire du Littoral” takes care of the coast. They work with a local association (in charge of the “Fort de la Crèche”) to give value to the military base and to open it to the public. The volunteers will be helping with building a path into the military base and with renovations.

Accommodation : The accommmodation will be in tents
Special requirements : This is a tri-lateral project between France, Germany and the UK. There will be a maximum of five volunteers of each nationality on the project and the project language will be English. Volunteers with an interest in history are particularly welcome to apply, although no qualification is required and the project is open to all volunteers interested. Volunteers should bring a sleeping bag/mat,working gloves and suitable work slothes. Volunteers will require an updated tetanus vaccination.

£90 registration fee, travel, insurance and pocket money. Food and accommodation is provided free of charge by the hosting organisation.

Motivation and commitment to stay from the beginning to the end of the project. Interest in History is welcome but not compulsory.
