EDGE of AFRICA is the bearer of gifts to the Garden Route community on South Africa’s most beautiful eastern coastline. Gifts of education. Gifts of social upliftment. Gifts of wildlife conservation. Gifts of environmental awareness. Gifts of friendship. And gifts of everlasting memories – both for those in need and our volunteers.

EDGE of AFRICA offers meaningful integrating opportunities to experience South Africa’s colourful heritage first-hand. Our sustainable projects include conservation, community and sports initiatives – all making a direct impact on the local community and the environment.

Take a gap year or career break. Come as a university intern or as part of a school group. We comfortably accommodate all ages, cultures and religious orientations in a safe and malaria-free environment.

Experience the African Big 5. Walk with elephants. Give love to underprivileged children. Have your breath taken away by the beautiful environment. Enjoy the sites and leisure activities. Soak up the African sun. And just come love it out here.


I see pictures in clouds and hear waves in sea shells. I can smell rain coming and can feel when winds are turning. I’m guided by inner voice and leave a trail of memories where I briefly visit. I follow my instincts and thrive on adventure. I’m not restricted by borders or bound by cultural prejudices. Don’t box me. I’ll climb fences and break down walls. Outside your comfort zone is my playground.
