The ideal combination of work experience, volunteering, teaching and sport! Hit the amazing white sands of Ipanema Beach and get to grips with surfing the waves before passing on your skills to local youngsters.
The project’s main goal is to help youths from low income communities discover their love of sport and get involved with a healthy and enjoyable activity that they will be able to pass on to future generations.
Your first two weeks at the project will include 20 hours of Portuguese lessons, for 2 hours a day. This will help you with your surfing instruction and give much more in depth experience of local life. As a volunteer you will typically work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8am to 11am and 2pm to 5pm. You will be working with children aged between 7 and 15 and helping out with a range of tasks such as:
• Helping with warming up and stretches before getting into the ocean
