Based in the stunning Indian city of Jaipur you will be working close to the famous Amber Fort, caring for the elephants in the mornings before they start their hard work carrying tourists around at the Fort.
You will be working in the village of Amber also known as the 'Elephant Village' where the elephants work daily at the nearby royal Amber Fort. The central focus of this project is to help the mahouts (the elephant’s carers) to look after their majestic animals and give them some much needed attention both before and after a hard day’s work.
You will be working varying shifts between around 8.30am and 7.30pm Monday to Friday with the weekends free to do as you choose! During the week, the following work patterns will be available to you:
• 5am to 11am - bathing, cleaning and preparing the elephant to go the Fort. Cleaning the area and working with any baby elephants
• 11am to 4pm - cleaning the area and feeding the elephant.
• 4pm to 7.30pm - preparing chapattis for the elephant feed, feeding them and giving them water.
