Info

Going to a developing country to conduct nursing has to be one of the most rewarding trips any medical professional could undergo.

Kenya like much of Africa has very poor healthcare facilities for the millions of people who live on such a small income.

Our medical placements reach out to some of the districts most in need. The clinics are small and in communities that have high HIV rates and the general standard of living is lower than most of the more populated areas in Kenya.

You will find in these clinics one or two doctors and several support staff. Despite the cost of basic medications being very, very cheap compared to the west, for many its simply out of reach and many people get treatments without paying or end up in debt. Some women even prostituting themselves to pay outstanding medical bills that add up to just $30.

Medical students are welcome. The resources are tight so training would be limited to just spending one-to one time with the Doctor. The experience would however provide an insight into African medical care and tropical diseases and combined with the work you could conduct would be very beneficial to your resume.

Despite the dated equipment, limited resources the patients and medical staff warmly welcome those willing to come and help from 2 weeks to 6 months. Volunteers could not only change lives, but save them. Click the links below to see where you can go.
