Take in stunning views of the Bay of Islands, bathe in the warm pools of Hot Water Beach, visit Rotorua’s geothermal area, experience the Maori culture, and even take on the challenge of the Tongariro Crossing!
Day 1 - 3
Set off from Auckland towards Paihia where you’ll take in giant kauri trees and snorkel at Goat Island marine reserve before arriving at the Bay of Islands. Feast your eyes on the incredible natural beauty on a wildlife cruise touring many of other 144 islands and visit the historic Waitangi Treaty grounds. You’ll also stop off to visit the amazing historic island of Urupukapuka, home to miles of bush land and stunning beaches as well as lots of fascinating Maori Pa sites, before heading back to Auckland to visit the Native Bird Recovery Centre.
Day 4 - 9
Next it’s on to the Coromandel region via views of Waikato farmland, you’ll make your way to a remote and tranquil beach and hike to the stunning Cathedral Cove. You’ll get a real taste of Maori culture in Whakarewarewa, a unique village set amongst thermal springs and mud pools, steeped in history and tradition.
Onto Huka Falls where you’ll drive around Lake Taupo towards the Central Plateau, journeying deep into the wilderness to the amazing Blue Duck Lodge. Time for one last dose of adventure as you visit the volcanoes of Tongariro National Park with the chance to hike the Tongariro Crossing before heading to the country’s capital, Wellington for some relaxation and sightseeing to finish off your trip!
