Play a vital role in conservation and protection of Sri Lanka’s sea turtles and help to give them a better chance of survival! Assist with everything from feeding to beach patrols and get involved with community life.
You’ll be able to get hands-on with the daily care and preservation of the turtles, with two days each week to spend exploring the local area. At the project you will assist with a range of activities including; caring for turtles, helping with maintenance at the centre and on the beach, burying eggs brought by vendors, cleaning the hatcheries, feeding the turtles and releasing them back into the wild! You may also be needed to lead tours around the hatchery, educating visitors on the importance of conservation.
Kosgoda is in desperate need of English teachers and you can put your language skills to great use working within the local community. You afternoons will be spent teaching locals conversational English with the additional opportunity to work with school children teaching a range of subjects including English, art, music, singing and dancing.
