Experience a life in a South-West Zambian community and make a contribution to worthwhile volunteer work. Set off on a Botswana bush camp and safari and help with building, teaching and medical care.
Day 1 – 11:
Experience rural African life in the Zambian village of Mwandi; you will be getting stuck in with community work by helping to build traditional African style houses for families in the village. You’ll be working side by side with community members young and old, as well as trained staff who will show you how it’s done.
There may also be the chance to assist local teachers in the village pre-school with basic classes or visit a feeding programme at a nearby orphanage. Your help would also be greatly appreciated after school, playing games, sports and helping with homework.
Days 12 -16
Prepare for a full dose of safari! Kick off your adventure at a Botswana bush camp covering 25,000 hectares of land and home to a whole host of game, where you can opt to go on safari or a guided bush walk. Head on to camp at Chobe River, before taking in the wonders of Chobe National Park where you’ll be able to spot elephants, go on a game drive and set off on a river safari. Make your way back to Zambia through the scenic Caprivi strip in time for your next lot of adventures!
Days 17 – 25
It’s back to your volunteer project in Mwandi for another week of working with the local community, building homes for underprivileged families and assisting at the village school.
Round off your trip with some time to relax and explore in Livingstone, home to Victoria Falls where you can choose to organise some adventures of your own before heading home.
