Volunteering in India: Healthcare and social work assisting women and children in rural India...

Underprivileged rural Indian communities lack access to healthcare putting their women and children are at severe risk, this group is among the most disadvantaged people in the world in terms of health status. Barriers such as poverty, illiteracy, culture and society ensure these problems will persist unless there is some form of intervention.

iSPiiCE has instigated a new initiative, for volunteers to travel into small rural villages to meet with local pregnant women and those with small children to
- discuss their situation with regard general health/wellbeing - difficulties/concerns they may be facing.
- determine practical ways of assistance and advice that will benefit their specific situation, giving nutritional and healthcare advice.

Visits are beneficial to all, in terms of increased education / awareness, and as an important part of the volunteer experience, seeing at a grass roots level; the difficulties women of rural India face and offering practical ways of assistance that will ultimately bring benefits for the whole community into the future.

iSPiiCE also provide travel opportunitis in India and weekend excursions are included to the Taj Mahal (one of the eight wonders of the world), the Golden Temple (in Amritsar) and a Himalayan trek.

Requirements

There are no educational requirements for our programs; anyone with a heart to help is welcome! However proficiency in English is required and volunteers should be patient, committed and willing to learn.
