Itinery

Please note that our itineraries are not set in stone and can be subject to change.
Day 1

Cairo (No meals included)

* Meet & assist inside Cairo airport. Transfer to start Hotel.
* Free day to explore Cairo. The Islamic and Coptic areas of Cairo are a great taster and introduction to Egypt. At 6pm meet your Oasis Representative and group for an informal get together.

Day 2

Cairo (2 meals)

* Day tour of the Egyptian History Museum and Pyramids & Sphinx at Giza, accompanied by our Egyptologist guide.
* Camel ride at Pyramids.
* Overnight train to Aswan by First Class Reclining or Nefertiti Style seats.

Day 3

Aswan (No meals)

* Visit Philae Temple on Agilika Island with our Egyptologist Guide.
* Optional evening visit to a Nubian village to have dinner and spend time with a local family.

Day 4

Aswan (1 meal)

* With our Egyptologist Guide explore the great stone monuments of the Sun Temple built by Ramses II, deep in the southern desert at Abu Simbel.
* Free afternoon - Walk along the Corniche with its Nile riverside restaurants, mix with locals in the narrow market alleys, wander around Elephantine Island, or swim in the pool at our hotel with classic views over the Nile.

Days 5 to 6

River Nile, Felucca (3 meals each day)

* Two days and nights aboard a traditional Felucca sailing boat, watching Egypt glide by and sleep under the stars.
* Time to explore the Temple of Kom Ombo and the Temple of Horus at Edfu.

Day 7

Luxor (1 meal)

* Transfer from Felucca to Luxor.
* Explore Luxor Temple with our Egyptologist Guide (entrance not included).

Day 8

Luxor (1 meal)

* Visit the tombs of the Valley of the Kings (and, for those that wish, the Valley of the Queens & Workers), accompanied by our Egyptologist Guide.
* Free afternoon - You can opt for a guided donkey ride through a local village, explore Luxor's sights and markets, or cool off in the hotel's roof top swimming pool.
* Visit a local orphanage that Oasis sponsors (optional).

Day 9

Luxor to Hurghada (1 meal)

* Visit the great Karnak Temple complex by horse drawn carriage, with our Egyptologist Guide.
* After lunch, transfer through the desert to Hurghada on the Red Sea - Overnight at Hurghada.

Days 10 to 13

Dahab (no meals included)

* Cross the Red Sea by fast ferry to the Sinai Peninsula. (Please note: we are one of the few companies using the fast ferry across the Red Sea, thus doing away with the very long 12hr bus journey and enabling an extra day in Dahab).
* Transfer to Dahab, the most relaxed and, for many, the most enjoyable place in Egypt.
* Scuba dive or snorkel in one of the world's top diving locations (optional).
* Opportunities to desert trek by camel or windsurf, visit St Catherine's Monastery and climb Mt Sinai, or simply relax on the beach.

Day 14

Dead Sea & Mount Masada (no meals included)

* Travel overland from Dahab to Israel and arrive at Dead Sea in time for lunch. There will be time for a float and a relax in the dense water, before visiting King Herod's hilltop fortress of Mt Masada. Transfer to Jerusalem. (Local guide included)

Days 15 to 17

Jerusalem (3 meals)

* Guided morning walking tour of the 4 quarters of the Old City, including Western (Wailing) Wall, Via Dolorosa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Free afternoon to explore when u can visit such places as Temple Mount and Jerusalem's enduring symbol, Thne Dome of the Rock.
* We have a day at leisure to either relax or explore the city further. There is also an option to visit Bethlehem.

Days 18 to 19

Tel Aviv (2 meals)

* In stark contrast to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv is a modern bustling hedonistic city. Time can be spent browsing in Boutique shopping areas, sipping a cocktail or two or just relaxing down at the beach.

PLEASE NOTE
This trip is not suitable for those travelling on to Syria afterwards due to the excursion into Israel. On the Israel leg of your trip you will not be accompanied by an Oasis Tour Leader. Our local English speaking rep will meet you at Taba border and escort you by private minibus. For further information please see our pre-departure dossier.

Israel is obviously a country that is frequently in the news and travel advice can change at any time. Should it be impossible for us to run the Israel section of your tour, we will endeavour to run the Egypt section and make arrangements to use the extra time to see further sights and attractions in Egypt. Any flight changes would unfortunately be at your cost.
