Company : Real Gap
Activities : Gap year / Career break / Community Projects
Countries : Guatemala
Location : Antigua
Help to change the lives of entire communities building homes in Guatemala. You can help to provide impoverished locals with safe and secure accommodation that will give them a better standard of life.
You can live and breathe the Latin American lifestyle, staying with a local family in Antigua and setting off each day to get really hands-on with building work. No matter what your level of experience you can help to make a huge difference to families living in homes with sugar cane and cardboard walls.
You’ll be working alongside local families, often the family you are making the house for, building and rebuilding houses, working on making them safer and stronger. This project gives you a fantastic opportunity to see your work through from start to finish as each house takes around 6 days to complete. Kicking off with digging footings and laying foundations, the spending around 3 days on the fabric of the building and a couple of days finishing your masterpiece before you hand over the keys to a very happy family!
You will finish in the late afternoon and will have the evenings to yourself to relax or explore the sights of Antigua.
