This longer safari explores both Tanzania and Kenya and includes strategically placed flights on light aircraft to shorten long journeys across the region.
A good number of nights are spent “under canvas” and between the national parks included you’ll have visited the main points of interest in both countries and seen an incredible amount of wildlife.
This comprehensive look at two of the most prolific wildlife destinations includes stops at Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater & Oldupai Gorge, Serengeti National Park, Amboseli National Park, Samburu Game Reserve, and the Masai Mara Reserve.

DAY 1 ARUSHA
On arrival you’ll be met by Safari Legacy and transferred to your hotel for overnight.

DAY 2 LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Depart after breakfast and drive via Mto Wa Mbu, visit local homes, farmlands and a school. Continue across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park.

DAY 3 NGORONGORO CRATER
Depart in the morning after breakfast for a morning game drive and picnic lunch in Lake Manyara. Here there is an opportunity to find baboons, flamingos and flocks of hornbills. Further south we visit hippo pools before searching for tree-climbing lions. We then drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, where we spend the evening on the crater rim.

DAY 4 NGORONGORO CRATER
Today we’ll explore Ngorongoro Crater, the earth’s largest unbroken caldera. A veritable “Garden of Eden”, the crater is reputed to contain the highest density of carnivores, which includes cheetah, leopard, and lion. This is the only place in East Africa where one can easily observe a natural population of black rhino. We return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAYS 5-7 OLDUPAI GORGE / SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we leave for the Oldupai Gorge, site of the Leaky family’s years of work and discovery of our fossilized human ancestors. We then continue to the world famous Serengeti National Park where we spend the next three nights under canvas. Our days are spent exploring the various ecosystems for migratory and resident wildlife.

DAYS 8 & 9 AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK, KENYA
Fly to Arusha for lunch followed by a drive via Namanga border to Kenya where we’ll spend two nights at Amboseli National Park, renowned for its elephants and views of Kilimanjaro.

DAY 10& 11 SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
After breakfast transfer to Amboseli Airstrip for a scheduled flight to Nairobi and connecting onwards to Samburu Game Reserve north of the equator. Daily game drives allow time to observe the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and reticulated giraffe characteristic of this region.

DAY 12 MT KENYA
After breakfast depart towards the south arriving on the slopes of Mount Kenya for lunch. The rest of the day is spent at leisure exploring the beautiful grounds and activities at the club.
Farimount Mt. Kenya Safari Club (B,L,D)
DAYS 13 & 14 MASAI MARA RESERVE
After breakfast transfer to Nanyuki Airstrip for a scheduled flight to the Masai Mara Reserve, a rich savannah famous for its concentration of plains game and predators, including leopard, cheetah and hyena. Our next two days include morning and afternoon game drives.
Mara Intrepids (B,L,D)
DAY 15 NAIROBI/HOME
After a morning game drive (time permitting), transfer to Keekorok Airstrip in Mara for the scheduled flight to Nairobi. We have dayrooms and lunch at the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel and time to relax or shop before transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home.
