Teaching Volunteer Placement: Direct placement in one of a number of volunteer opportunities from preschool through to adult, at no additional cost. Most of these are in the Chiang Mai area.

Placements are available in a local temple teaching monks and novice monks; a local orphanage; a government college of nursing and temple schools

SEE TEFL Commitment

* Sponsor and administer for no extra cost a 1-year Non-immigrant “O” volunteer visa and work permit for volunteers who commit to at least 6 months
* Sponsor and administer for no extra cost a 3-month or 1-year Non-immigrant “O” volunteer visa for volunteers who commit to at least 2 months
* Place the student in a volunteer opportunity through its sister program at the nonprofit DSS Education Foundation
* Award full TEFL certification to the volunteer

The Volunteer will

* Provide a police clearance if working with children. This can be obtained in the volunteer’s home country or in Thailand (details on request)
* Successfully complete the TEFL certification course (>95% completion rate)
* Volunteer as an English teacher at least 4 hours per week (16 hours/month)
* The volunteer is responsible for the direct costs of the Visa and Work Permit (less than US$200 payable directly to the Thai immigration and labor departments)

Visa and Work Permit

A non-immigrant “O” visa allow volunteer teachers to create bank accounts, register motorbikes or cars, and doesn’t require evidence of a large sum of money in a Thai bank or proof of high monthly income.
