Do You Want To Build A New Future Through Teaching?
The school system in Uganda was set when the country was under colonial rule by the British and continued to adopt the system when they gained Independence in 1962. The schools system in Uganda is based on 7-4-2. This means that a child spends 7 years in primary school, 4 years in secondary school and 2 years in high school before leaving for university or some other form of further education. School education in Uganda starts at the age of 7 although a lot of children never actually attend school due to illness, lack of school fees or in a lot of cases their parents tell them to remind behind to help with farm and house work. With your help we can help change this.
Why The Need For Volunteers?
Education is seen as a privilege in Uganda and was reserved until recently for the wealthy families. In recent years school as in theory been made free; however schools still need funding to survive and consequently have asked for scholar subscriptions. This is why it is essential for volunteers to help within these schools, to give kids the opportunity to learn and to gain an education they deserve.
