Nepal is a very diverse country - filled with stunning landscape, diverse climatic zones and endless sights to explore.

You'll assist on our teaching programmes based in the districts of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. This means that they're very conveniently located, enabling you to experience life on the outskirts of two of the most well established cities in the Kathmandu Valley.

You'll teach children at a range of schools and districts in Nepal. You can choose the length of time you want to spend on the project, from 2 weeks to 3 months (or longer, depending on visa restrictions).

Our teaching programmes are very flexible. You will mainly be teaching conversational English, however, there is also the opportunity to teach Art, Drama and Sports – depending on where your interest lies! The great thing is that you don't need to have any prior qualifications for this project, so anyone can take part!

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN FROM DOING THIS PROJECT:

An exciting, never-to-be-forgotten adventure into beautiful Nepal and its fascinating culture.

The enormous satisfaction of helping disadvantaged children and knowing that you made a difference to them.

New skills, more confidence, a greater understanding of a different culture, invaluable personal and professional development.

An entry on your CV or résumé that will put you head and shoulders above most others in the job market

And best of all ... an unforgettable experience!

WORK CONTENT:

We work at a number of privately owned and government-run schools in the districts of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur. The children at each of the schools range from age 3-16 years and you're most likely to take classes for children aged 8-14 years old, as this is where the most assistance is required.

Depending on the length of your placement, it’s likely that you'll be placed at one or perhaps a variety of schools. Generally, you will work from 10-4 pm from Monday to Friday, leaving you with the weekends free to explore your surroundings.

Your work will mainly involve assisting the children with conversational English – and you can definitely be creative here, by bringing in games, books, magazines and many more items to get you planning creative and interactive lessons. You can also use this as an opportunity to teach different topics of language each time; e.g. family life, hobbies, food etc. Another great idea would be to set up an after school club to engage the children in a range of extra-curricular activities.

ACCOMMODATION
Your accommodation during the teaching programme will be in our conveniently located volunteer house in Bhaktapur – specifically set aside for teaching volunteers. In the house, there are live-in staff who will be available if you need any assistance throughout your stay, and they will also prepare your meals (three a day), which are included in the cost of your programme. The accommodation is within a 5 to 45 minute journey from the schools (either walking or by bus, depending on the school that you’re placed at) – and on your induction, you will be shown how to get to the schools).
