Take a gap year in Africa and take part in gap year Volunteer projects Zambia! Zambia has a population of about 10 million . 50% are under 15 years old. One million people live in the capital Lusaka with another 3 million living in other urban areas.
Zambia is a landlocked nation bordered by eight other countries:- Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botwsana, Namibia, Angola & Congo. It is a country rich in beauty & natural resources, home of the Victoria Falls & other magnificent waterfalls, spectacular wildlife, superb safaris, great adventure, rich culture & friendly people.
English is the official language although there are around 72 different languages & dialects spoken across the country. The country is mostly black African of Bantu descent with small European & Indian communities. The majority of Zambians are Christian although there is a Muslim & Hindu population. Traditional beliefs & witchcraft are still widespread & many people still consult traditional healers.
