Take a gap year in South Africa and volunteer with lions! Oyster Worldwide are thrilled to announce the launch of another excellent animal gap year welfare project in – working with abused (yet still magnificent) lions in LIONSROCK, South Africa’s largest lion sanctuary.
Work closely with lions to give them back their freedom, their strength and their pride.
Oyster are proud to be working with international charity Vier Pfoten (Four Paws). The charity established this sanctuary, a haven for lions abused by hunting and tourism, in 2007 and ever since have been needing volunteers to help to advance the sanctuary, participate with the development of the lions and lend a hand with important daily tasks such as feeding the lions and taking educational tours.
The sanctuary is in a stunning location, boasts a passionate and friendly team of workers and offers the opportunity to really give dignity and power back to these magnificent creatures.
You will really get involved in the running of the sanctuary and will be monitoring the lions daily.
You will be based with gap year volunteers from around the world in comfortable on-site accommodation. The sanctuary is close to the Drakensberg mountains and offers lots of things to see and do in your free time.
