Wanting to take a gap year and get away this summer but not sure what to do or where to go? BUNAC’s gap year volunteer programmes allow you to fully immerse yourself into a culture and community abroad; working on a project alongside local people. As a non profit organisation, you can contribute to a worthwhile and memorable experience.
Why Volunteer on a Gap Year?
• No two days are the same. Whether you’re teaching children in a township about your favourite footy team back home, building fences in a National Park or feeding lions in Africa, you’re guaranteed a unique experience that you could never have at home!
• You’re making a difference. Yes, statues may not be erected in your honour, but you will learn that that ‘fuzzy feeling inside’ that people talk about really does exist.
• You become an honorary local. As a tourist, you are a mere visitor to your chosen nation. Volunteering gives you that momentary passport to become one of the people.
• Adventure! Your mates return from their summer trip to the Med with dodgy tan lines, faded drunken memories and horror stories of neighbouring Brits abroad. You will return with invaluable experiences, friends for life, stories to write a couple of novels on and a camera full of endless priceless photos.
BUNAC have gap year volunteering opportunities in teaching, working with children, TEFL, community development, HIV/AIDS awareness, Care work, Environment and conservation work, Manual work and sports coaching. However the deadline is steadily approaching for most of BUNAC's summer gap year programmes so if you want to make a difference this summer, get started on your application now!
