Take a gap year in East Africa and volunteer in Tanzania / Zanzibar. Oyster volunteers are enjoying their free time from teaching in Zanzibar - a beautiful island off the coast of Tanzania. 15 Oyster Worldwide gap year volunteers set out to Tanzania this January to teach in schools, help out in orphanages and become part of the local community.
In their free time they have done lots of visiting, travelling and making the most of their time in Tanzania, with walks to local waterfalls and lakes, embarking on safari and climbing Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
A major highlight of this gap year placement is the school holidays at this time of year- and the incredible travelling opportunities that this offers. Many gap year volunteers jump at the opportunity to explore Zanzibar, an island in the Indian Ocean just off Tanzania. This photo was taken here when Andy and other volunteers set off for the island for a few days holiday.
“Zanzibar was amazing- thinking of going back there hopefully. Definitely is a paradise island!”
