International Exchange Programs (IEP) New Zealand are now accepting applications for the Work Canada Job Fair Program. The Work Canada Job Fair program prearranges employment for eligible New Zealanders with some of the best ski and winter employers in Canada.
IEP New Zealand organises interviews in early August with Canadian employers, allowing participants to secure a 5 month work contract before even leaving New Zealand. Employers often offer subsidised housing, discounted season passes, as well as other benefits to entice kiwis to work at their resorts.
For the 2011-2012 winter season IEP New Zealand will be working with Panorama Mountain Village, Marmot Basin, Grouse Mountain and Asessippi Ski Resort. These resorts are located in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba. Skiing and snowboarding experience is not required for all roles, and there are a variety of employment opportunities: lift operators, rental shop attendants, servers, hosts, bussing, retail sales, bar tender and much more.
“For anyone who is interested in working at a Canadian ski resort this is an amazing opportunity.” Mr. McClanaghan explains. “By having prearranged work at a mountain resort in Canada, they will beat the crowds of people looking for work at the beginning of the snow season and have a fixed term contract which is very difficult to get at a mountain resort.”
Along with a guaranteed job offer the Work Canada Job Fair program provides support and guidance for the entire duration of the trip abroad. Participants receive assistance in obtaining all of the legal documentation to work in Canada as well as materials to prepare them for a overseas. Upon arrival to Canada participants attend an orientation at the Vancouver inbound center where they will receive information on finding work and accommodation, tax and employment laws, travel and transport within Canada, mobile phones, assistance in obtaining a social insurance number and opening a bank account and more! Once the participant finishes the winter contract at the ski resort they can use the inbound center to find employment and accommodation.
IEP New Zealand’s Work Canada Job Fair program is open to kiwis between the ages of 18-35 years of age. For more information on IEP’s Work Canada Job Fair program, visit www.iep.org.nz or call 0800 443 769.
